Afternoon Cinema: The Colour Purple

After the success of the 1982 novel by Alice Walker, the original Steven Spielberg film starring Whoopi Goldberg and the Broadway show, The Colour Purple is reimagined once more in this modern musical reboot starring Taraji P. Henson, Halle Bailey and Danielle Brooks. 

The story follows teenager Celie Harris, who finds extraordinary strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood after many hardships in her life.
