East Hampshire: get ready to smell the spices, hear the drums and celebrate the incredible arts and culture of Kerala, South India!

Thanks to the amazing support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The Kala Chethana Kathakali Troupe are bringing the captivating drama, dance, costumes and music of Kerala to this corner of the South East. 

The Phoenix will host two performances featuring some of Kerala’s top artists who are flying over especially to present the exceptional art of Kathakali to the people of East Hampshire. These Keralan performers will join with UK-based experts to lead a celebration of centuries-old artforms including Kathakali drama, Mohiniattam and Bharatanatyam dance and the powerful drumming of Chenda Melam.

In addition to these performances, Phoenix Arts will also be hosting a Kathakali exhibition and four workshops, which will allow the people of East Hampshire to immerse themselves in the incredible culture of Kerala.
