No. 5 Project

The No. 5 was a digital project, conceived at a time of crisis but delivered as an RSVP to join a post-Covid-19 cultural explosion!
Supported using public funding by Arts Council England and East Hampshire District Council.

The number 5 symbolises communication and ideas. This arts project provided creative opportunities for isolated vulnerable groups. By reimagining our current provision in response to Covid-19, we developed ideas for a stronger, future connection with these groups.

We expanded our team of freelance creative practitioners to work digitally and remotely within the 5 major arts genres namely Visual Arts, Theatre, Music, Literature and Dance.  Examples of this in practice included online music sessions using household items, e.g. saucepans for drums and telephone calls to people with dementia, facilitating them to write or draw a treasured memory.

By supporting the project, carers found new creative ways to engage with their clients.

Participants and practitioners shared their work and ideas through online video calls, ‘photos, phone calls, etc, and the project was monitored by an experienced freelance Phoenix Disability Arts tutor.

Please check out the video for a glimpse at what we got up to.
